I Love My Kids, But...

I am also very much enjoying having a temporarily "empty nest" this weekend! The silence is amazing! All of our kids except Tessa (visiting Jennifer in Michigan) and Zhenya (helping a friend paint and then working today and tomorrow) have gone to an annual youth function which our church sponspors, called Reformation Now. This is the first year that all of them have gone, I believe. In the past, Bob and I have taken this opportunity to have a weekend away from home, but as we considered that for this year, we realized that ALL of our kids would be gone at the same time, giving us the desired break in our own home. :-) The kids love this weekend each year and so do we. It is wonderful to rest in the knowledge that they are hearing solid biblical teaching from doctrinally sound teachers, and they are also staying in homes of people whose lives are very much a part of our own. I know it will be difficult to get used to an empty nest once they all leave and are out on their own but, for now, I am very much enjoying the quiet.
