Unquestioning Obedience

In John Calvin's commentary on Acts, he has this to say regarding Acts 11:18 (The version he is commenting on reads, "When they heard this they had no further objections..."):

Whenever we need to know the reason for anything,
the Lord does not conceal it; but sometimes he simply tells us that a particular thing pleases him, to get us used to obeying. People
who take the liberty of inquiring further, and delight in doing so, only bring about their own downfall by their devilish presumption. Luke says that Peter's listeners not only had no further objections but praised God. Some people, when they are shamed into keeping their mouths shut, still keep in their minds what they dare not say. That is pretending to be modest rather than being truly teachable. {emphasis added}
